Roles glossary
Roles differ across the five covered circuits, but the desk normalises them into a common reading frame so a reader can compare rosters across circuits.
- Duelist: Entry-fragger. Opens the round, takes space, sets the tempo.
- Controller: Map-shaper. Uses utility to deny or slow opponent routes.
- Initiator: Information gatherer. Reveals opponent positions before the team commits.
- Sentinel: Anchor. Holds site, plays retake, protects the team's economy.
- In-game leader (IGL): Calls the round. May overlap with one of the four combat roles.
- Flex: Role-flexible. Fills whichever slot the draft requires.
KDA explained
KDA is the kill-death-assist ratio per round. The desk reports a per-match KDA where data is published by the organiser; where data is not published, the desk does not estimate. A 1.0 KDA is average for the circuits the desk covers; a 1.5 KDA is strong; a 0.7 KDA reads as a struggling roster slot.
KDA alone is misleading. The desk pairs KDA with first-blood rate, clutch conversion and utility damage to give a fuller picture. A high KDA on a controller role, for instance, can mean the roster is winning the round before the controller is forced into combat — that is a different read than a high KDA on a duelist role.
Reading form arrows
Form arrows show the trajectory over the last five matches: ▲ means the player's per-match rating is trending up, ▼ means trending down, — means flat. The arrow is a quick read, not a verdict — a single hot or cold match can swing it, and the desk does not average away the volatility.
Where the player has not played five matches on the current roster, the arrow is suppressed and the page notes the sample size.
Career context
Career context shows the player's route through the circuits: which organisations they have played for, which regions they have competed in, and which Tier S playoffs they have appeared in. The desk keeps this section short — a long biography is not what readers come for, and it pulls against the editorial focus.
Head-to-head desk
Pairwise reads let you compare two rosters across KDA, win rate, map pool, first-blood rate and average round length. The desk publishes the head-to-head numbers from the last ten matches each side has played; where a side has fewer than ten, the desk notes the gap.
